Why this site looks like 1998

Nov 8, 2026

This site has almost no CSS. No framework, no build step, no web fonts. The browser defaults do the work: Times, blue underlined links, tables with borders.

Three reasons:

• It loads instantly, on any connection.
• It is easy to edit: one HTML file per page.
• It puts the content first, which is the point of a personal site.

And yes, the CSS did load.
